NEW:

A list of RTA Members' Newsletters and tour reports is presented below, categorised by year. The Newsletters are in high-resolution PDF format and will open in a new browser tab or window, or as a download, depending on your browser settings.

Note that the PDF files (even the scanned hard-copy versions) are fully searchable and all text is copyable.

If you are running Windows 10, the PDFs can be loaded into Microsoft Edge and you can listen to an audio transcription using the 'Read Aloud' feature.

Tour notes - Allendale tour 19 July 1980

The above is the tour notes for the 'W to Allendale' tour on 19 July 1980. Original scan of notes and text version of document are presented in a layered PDF file.

When you look at the PDF you'll see the corrected text first. Go to the left-hand side of the screen in Adobe Reader and choose the Layers button in the Navigation Pane. You might have to go to View - Show/Hide - Navigation Panes - Layers to see this.

You'll then see the filename with a + sign next to it. Click on the + sign to expand the layers, and you'll see the Corrected text layer (with a coloured background matching the original paper), then the original text (mistakes and all), then the original scan. Click on the eyeball icon to switch the layers on/off.

If you turn off the Corrected layer, leaving just the Text and Scan layers, you'll see how closely the text matches the original!

In this way, the original is captured 'as is', and a clean copy of the corrected text is also available and can be searched.
